This weeks vintage guitar sale of the week isn't going to be highlighted very often if ever.  This weeks rare guitar is a  1927 handmade pre factory tricone style #1 resonator.  It is believed to be the second or third of its kind ever made.  This historic tricone

resonator featured hand-soldered strips which are actually woven into place as opposed to factory instruments which have stamped upper grills.  This guitar was once owned by the journalist Hunter S. Thompson, and the proceeds from the sale were donated to The Progeria Research Foundation.  This resonator sold for $25,699 at eBay auction on December 9, 2008
