Vintage Gibson Guitar Sale of the Week

This weeks sale of the week  is a 1956 Vintage Gibson Les Paul Guitar.  This solid body electric guitar was originally a "gold top" and had been refinished in cherry sunburst finish.  The guitar had been refretted and the ABR-1 bridge had been changed.  The owner sold this guitar along with it's original Lifton 4-latch hard shell case, for $15,000 on an eBay auction October 5, 2009.  eBay auctions have one of the largest selections in the world when it comes to vintage Gibson guitars.

It's been almost a month since we updated our "Highlight of the week" which features the highest selling price vintage guitar on eBay for the previous week.  This past week another Gibson Les Paul takes the spotlight with a selling price of $8269 after 25 bids, this 1968-69 custom "Black Beauty" sold on September 30, 2009.  This guitar was completely original with original solder joints on the pots which were dated the last week of 1968.  Several prospective bidders had questions regarding the construction which the owner clarified as follows; one piece body,three piece top, and three piece neck.  There are great vintage guitar selections on eBay every week and this past week was no exception.

1959 Vintage Fender Guitar Auction Highlight of The Week

The vintage guitar auctions on ebay continue to produce auctions of vintage guitars that are in high demand by collectors.  This past week a 1959 Fender Stratocaster was pursued by 15 bidders and ended on Sept 1, 2009 with a sale price of $15,101.  This guitar was an original 1959 (pre CBS) Fender Stratocaster with a sunburst body with a Brazilian rosewood neck.  The body was marked 11/9 and the Serial number was 43035.  The guitars was reported to be 100% original except for four tuning keys which were 1964 vintage.

A vintage acoustic guitar sale highlight this past week is a 1958 Gibson Les Paul Special TV Yellow.   1958 was the last year of the single cut Les Paul Special and features two of Gibson's P-90 pickups.  This guitar is a second owner piece and was in all original condition and should continue to increase in value since only a small number of 1958 special single-cuts were produced.  This vintage guitar sold for $10,500 on eBay on August 25, 2009.

This weeks vintage guitar sale we are highlighting is a Gibson Gold Top Les Paul 1954 to 1957 P.A.F. conversion.  The 1954 manufactured guitar was converted in 1957 with original P.A.F.'s and the wiring harness is week 45 of 1956.  This vintage Les Paul sold on eBay for $12750 on August 12, 2009.  With the recent passing of Les Paul one of the unique music innovators of our time, items such as this vintage guitar will continue to increase in value.  eBay continues to be one of the largest settings for vintage guitar auctions in the world.

The highest dollar value vintage guitar auction on eBay this week was the sale of a vintage Fender guitar.  The 1959 Sunburst original sold for $12,667 on July 20, 2009.  This vintage Fender guitar listing cause a lot of interest with over 40 bids being cast.  The owner who had owned the guitar for half of it's life since manufacture, reported that two of the tuners where not original but were vintage tuners. The eBay auctions are an excellent source for vintage Fender guitars.

This weeks highlighted sale of the week on eBay is a 1957 Gibson Les Paul TV Model Junior.  This vintage guitar was totally original with no cracks, chips, touch up, or repairs.  This auction closed July 15, 2009 with a final sale price of $12,000.  This sale is typical of the vintage guitars which are being sold on eBay every week.  These auctions are home for hundreds of vintage guitar sales each week, and vintage Gibson guitars are some of the most popular items as the previous highlighted sales attest.  Check out the selection and come back often.

We are resuming the highlight sale of the week feature with a real gem of a vintage guitar.  This weeks highlight is a 1959 Fender Stratocaster very early slab board guitar.  This guitar in it's original blond finish one piece Ash body construction sold on eBay auction for $26,600.00 after a 42 bid auction.  There are many fine vintage guitars for sale every week on eBay auctions.

1958 Fender Stratocaster All Original

This week's highlighted sale of a vintage guitar on eBay auctions, is a 1958 Fender Stratocaster.  This 40 year old guitar was 100% original and was judged to be a 9.5 on a 10 point scale.  The investment grade guitar was acquired from the original owner had been in a closet for 40 years which accounted for it's rarely found condition.  The guitar sold for $29,500 on June 12, 2009.  There were many vintage guitars sold this past week on eBay, and this one topped the chart as the highest dollar sale.

Sales of Gibson electric guitars are frequent highlights here, where we highlight the highest dollar auction for the past week in the vintage guitar category on eBay.  This week a 1959 Gibson es335 in original condition sold on eBay for $24,000 on May 23, 2009.  This second year (1959) es335 had been stored away for almost 45 years and had been played on rare occasions.  There were 1,435 Gibson es335 guitars shipped in the period 1958 - 1960 and many of these are now in the hands of collectors and players. The eBay vintage guitar auctions are a source for those buying guitars of all ages and types.
