This weeks highlight sale on eBay vintage guitar auctions is a 1955 original Les Paul Gibson Black beauty.  The owner reported minor wearing of the finish and every thing original except for one tuning key.  There was no lack of interest in this valuable guitar which sold after 22 bids for $17,877.77 on May 10, 2009.  Gibson guitars are big sellers on eBay auctions and many are for sale every week.

Vintage 1966 Fender Stratocaster Highlight of The Week

This weeks highlight sale on eBay is another Fender Stratocaster.  This time a 1966  Stratocaster in near mint condition, with the original hard shell case takes the honors with the highest auction sale price for a vintage guitar.  This beauty in exceptional clean condition and all original sold for $ 10,200 on May 7, 2009.  Owner reported a couple of "pick scuffs" which can be expected on a guitar that has seen some real playing and not tucked away in a closet somewhere.

1967 Fender Stratocaster Orginal Condition Highlight Sale of The Week

Our highlight is another Fender Stratocaser.  This week a 1967 Stratocaster in completely original condition sold for $5,551.51 on an eBay auction April 28, 2009.  The owner reported the guitar was completely original in every detail, and came with the original Black case.

1941-42 Vintage Martin D28 Guitar Highlight Sale of The Week

This weeks highlight sale is the first vintage Martin guitar we have highlighted.  Martin guitars of this age are rarely sold at eBay auction, at least since I have been tracking the vintage guitar auction scene on eBay.  This guitar was auctioned by singer Gary Morris who purchased this guitar in 1981 after he signed with Warner Brothers Records.  According to Morris he used a portion of his signing money to purchase the guitar.  The guitar was in the exact same condition as purchased with the exception of a pickup which was added and bracing work.  This rare vintage martin guitar sold for $20,000 on April 24, 2009.

Vintage 1964 Lefty Fender Precision Bass is Highlighted Sale of the Week

This weeks highlighted sale is the first "lefty" guitar that we have highlighted in the eBay vintage guitars sales highlight series we have been running. This week a 1964 Fender Precision Bass sold for $10,500 on April 18,2009. The only unusual aspect of this guitar was a neck date of May 63 and pot dates from the 40th week of 1964, which is explained by the way Fender batched parts in their manufacturing process. The owner reported the guitar to be completely original and absent repairs of any kind. "Spectacular" is the term applied to the condition of this rare lefty Fender vintage guitar.

1964 Fender Stratocaster Highlighted Sale of The Week

This weeks sale we are highlighting is the auction with the highest sale ending price for the week ended April 5, 2009. The 1964 Stratocaster was a one owner guitar sold with the original bill of sale dated August 24, 1965. The finish was a three tone sunburst with the original hardshell case and tremolo arm. The seller reported several malfunctioning pickups but since this is a completely original vintage guitar elected to leave the corrective action if any, for the new owner.

How Left Handed Player Adapts to Right Hand Guitars

I don't give much thought to being right handed, in fact I take for granted that it is a "right hand world".  We include a category and selection of left handed guitars which has a good selection, but isn't nearly as large as the selection of right hand guitars which number in the 100's, if not 1,000's.  As I was investigating products made for left handed individuals I came across an interesting  and informative item on the Internet teaching a left handed guitar player how to play a right handed guitar.  This opens up more options in finding a guitar you want, and shows the remarkable adaptability of someone who loves to play the guitar but just happens to be left handed.

1961 Gibson SG Les Paul Standard Highlight Sale of the Week

This weeks vintage guitar sale of the week is a 1961 Gibson SG Les Paul in Cherry. The dual Humbuckers yielded plenty of vintage tone as reported by the owner. The seller rated the guitar as very good 8/10. The guitar sold for $12,695.95 in eBay auction on March 30, 2009

1959 Gibson ES 345 Highlight of the Week

This weeks sale of the week is unusual in that a 1959 Gibson ES usually sells for much more than the $12,500 this guitar sold for on March 25, 2009.  The reason this unit sold for a relatively small amount is that it was significantly modified from its original

condition, in that it had been refinished in black over red in a spray can job.  The neck was refinished so the serial number was gone, and the guitar had been refretted with jumbo frets. Goes with saying restoration of this guitar will be a project.

1966 Vintage Fender Stratocaster Guitar

Another Fender Stratocaster is the highest dollar vintage guitar sale this week on eBay. This 1966 Stratocaster vintage guitar was reported to be in 100% original condition, including the case. The original owner toured with this guitar twice in Europe in the 1980's. The guitar sold for $9,700 on March 17, 2009.
