A vintage acoustic guitar sale highlight this past week is a 1958 Gibson Les Paul Special TV Yellow.   1958 was the last year of the single cut Les Paul Special and features two of Gibson's P-90 pickups.  This guitar is a second owner piece and was in all original condition and should continue to increase in value since only a small number of 1958 special single-cuts were produced.  This vintage guitar sold for $10,500 on eBay on August 25, 2009.

The highest dollar value vintage guitar auction on eBay this week was the sale of a vintage Fender guitar.  The 1959 Sunburst original sold for $12,667 on July 20, 2009.  This vintage Fender guitar listing cause a lot of interest with over 40 bids being cast.  The owner who had owned the guitar for half of it's life since manufacture, reported that two of the tuners where not original but were vintage tuners. The eBay auctions are an excellent source for vintage Fender guitars.

This weeks highlight sale on eBay vintage guitar auctions is a 1955 original Les Paul Gibson Black beauty.  The owner reported minor wearing of the finish and every thing original except for one tuning key.  There was no lack of interest in this valuable guitar which sold after 22 bids for $17,877.77 on May 10, 2009.  Gibson guitars are big sellers on eBay auctions and many are for sale every week.

Vintage 1966 Fender Stratocaster Highlight of The Week

This weeks highlight sale on eBay is another Fender Stratocaster.  This time a 1966  Stratocaster in near mint condition, with the original hard shell case takes the honors with the highest auction sale price for a vintage guitar.  This beauty in exceptional clean condition and all original sold for $ 10,200 on May 7, 2009.  Owner reported a couple of "pick scuffs" which can be expected on a guitar that has seen some real playing and not tucked away in a closet somewhere.

1959 Gibson ES 345 Highlight of the Week

This weeks sale of the week is unusual in that a 1959 Gibson ES usually sells for much more than the $12,500 this guitar sold for on March 25, 2009.  The reason this unit sold for a relatively small amount is that it was significantly modified from its original

condition, in that it had been refinished in black over red in a spray can job.  The neck was refinished so the serial number was gone, and the guitar had been refretted with jumbo frets. Goes with saying restoration of this guitar will be a project.

Vintage 1965 Fender Jazz Bass Is Highlighted Sale of The Week

The highlight this week is an extremely hard to find 1965 Fender Jazz Bass guitar in Burgundy Mist Metallic with matching headstock, and a L series serial number.  This is a rare guitar in a rare color and the owner had it disassembled,inspected and photgraphed by an expert to certify that it was 100% completely orginal as delivered from the factory.  This widely watched vintage guitar auction on eBay yielded a selling price of $12,999 on January 8, 2009.

1960 Gibson Les Paul Vintage Guitar Highlighted Sale of The Week

Gibson electric guitars continue to come to the fore in auctions of vintage guitars.  This week a Gibson Les Paul guitar is the sale we are highlighting.  This vintage 1960 Les Paul Special was 100% original and serial number 0 86xx.
