1959 Gibson ES 345 Highlight of the Week
Written by admin on March 30, 2009 – 7:21 pm -This weeks sale of the week is unusual in that a 1959 Gibson ES usually sells for much more than the $12,500 this guitar sold for on March 25, 2009. The reason this unit sold for a relatively small amount is that it was significantly modified from its original
condition, in that it had been refinished in black over red in a spray can job. The neck was refinished so the serial number was gone, and the guitar had been refretted with jumbo frets. Goes with saying restoration of this guitar will be a project.

Vintage Guitar Sale of The Week
Written by admin on October 7, 2008 – 9:36 pm -Have you ever wondered what kind of Vintage Guitar gems are selling on eBay? I have, and I have decided to feature a Vintage Guitar "sale of the week" highlighting the highest price sale of a Vintage Guitar on eBay for the previous week, based on my research. This weeks featured sale is a 1960 Gibson ES-345

This gem sold September 28, 2008 for a final bid of $16,100.00 The owner stated this was a second owner vintage electric, with very little wear. The guitar was all original with the original strap and case. The tuners had been replaced with Gotoh direct replacement tuner buttons. The original buttons were still tight with great gold plating and were included waiting for healthy buttons. The seller reported the finish is gorgeous with the ES style sunburst, with very minor scratches and no visible playing wear. This original stop tail model weighs 8 lbs,6 oz. I'll bet the new owner was waiting for that Air Delivery!!
