Vintage Fender Stratocaster Project Guitar

Vintage Fender guitars are sold every day on eBay, but this week our high lighted sale of a vintage guitar isn't a complete unit, but a project guitar. This Fender Stratocaster "project guitar" is a 1967 era guitar. The neck is a November 1967 Maple Cap neck with the big headstock and transistion logo. Knowledgeable Fender experts say this is one of the first maple cap Stratocasters ever made. Sold in this auction was the neck, the tuners, the neckplate, the body, and the tremelo. The body had been stripped to a natural condition, from it's original sunburst design. The large numbers present indicate that the unit was factory refurbished at some point . The neck was original finish, and frets that showed significant wear. In the tradition of these wonderful guitars this "project" guitar sold for $8,200 on April 8, 2011, and 25 eBay bidders took a shot at owning guitar history, albeit, a project that the new owner will enjoy for days and years to come.
